Tweetdeck, is known as third-party applications most popular on the Twitter platform. In February, the TweetDeck recently acquired by UberMedia, a company owned by a famous entrepreneur, Bill Gross.

So far, Bill Gross is known as the founder of the company incubator named Idealab, which is based in Pasadena, U.S.. Some sites that were born of this incubator, among others, is Picasa, Compete, Citysearch, eToys.com, Answers.com, and Netzero.

By joining Tweetdeck in Ubermedia, Ubermedia practical mastered a variety applications in Twitter, ranging from UberSocial, Echofon, UberCurrent, to the TweetDeck itself. Various applications are expected to control up to 20 percent of all tweets that milling on the Twitter platform.

Recently, both are also experience friction when the Twitter block UberSocial and Twitdroid service, because violating the rules of Twitter, one of which provides a direct message is longer than 140 characters.

CNN also reported that UberMedia are developing a competitor's site Twitter, as a backup plan if their applications were blocked by Twitter for some reason.

But, this acquisition seems more like a defensive move for Twitter. However, Twitter is not really like when a company can control more than 20 percent of the traffic on Twitter.

With this acquisition, Twitter has tried to position UberMedia not too dominant and decisive for the whole ecosystem on Twitter.
